Say Cheese!

Here are 2 new pics of the girls. It is really hard to get 2 babies to smile at the same time in a picture!

A Tooth! A Tooth!

Natalie was just sitting here, gumming my hand, and OUCH! Someone has their 1st tooth poking through!

Festival of Nations

So, what have we been up to...it's been so hot out, not a lot! My mom and I did take the kids to the Festival of Nations over the weekend. Thank goodness she was there! I don't mind taking the kids out by myself, but I think this would have been a little overwhelming. So many people! John had a good time. Sometimes he can get a little shy in big groups, but he jumped right in with some of the musical groups, playing instruments they had out for the kids and dancing around. He really liked watching one of the African dancing groups. In the kids area he made a Japanese fan, a Purim shaker, and got some tribal face painting done. He devoured his shishkabob (sp?) and ate some of my tacos too! The girls pretty much just napped in their strollers. :)
Mike and I went to John's preschool open house last week and got to meet his teachers and other parents. He's such a big boy! He has to have a backpack and I'll have to make him a lunch to take! Holy cow I feel old! He's going to be going on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
I have been noticing a little attitiude on the boy lately. When I was trying to take his picture the other day he kept saying "No Mommy! No pictures! Leave me alone!" AGH! Where did he get that from??? But then when I told him not to speak to me like that he did very nicely say "No thank you, Mommy."
The girls are getting so big. They are getting close to rolling over from back to front, and yesterday Natalie pushed up on her hands and knees. No! Don't crawl yet! I'm not ready for mobility!
Here are a few pictures of John, and I have a couple more of the girls I need to load on my computer. I'll try to post them later tonight.

4 month stats

No pics, but the girls went to the doctor today for their 4 month check ups.

Rebecca
- height: 25.75 inches (87%)
- weight: 18lb 3.2oz (>97%)

Natalie
- height: 25.5 inches (81%)
- weight: 16lb 3.2 oz (87%)

They are both big healthy girls. The were NOT happy with the 4 shots each they got, but other than that they were very well behaved and had all the nurses cooing over them. :) The next big step for them is starting on solid foods. Rice cereal...here we come!

Argh!

The last week or so John has just been an angel...and then he woke up this morning! Really, there were just 2 incidents that drove me a little bonkers. First, we were in the living room playing while the girls napped in their room. John ran down the hall and I figured he was going to get a toy from his room, but then I heard a door shut so I went to go investigate. He had gone in the girls room and locked the door behind him. I hear the babies start to cry so I am freaking out having no idea what he's doing in there! I didn't know how to unlock the door, so I called Mike...no answer. I called my Dad...no answer. I called the office to have the secretary page Mike to call me back. Meanwhile I found a screwdriver and started unscrewing the doorknob. Mike called back and told me how to unlock it without taking the whole doorknob off. When I got in I found John in the crib with the girls, jumping! Luckily he was at the opposite end of the crib, but who knows what was going on before I broke in. The girls calmed down as soon as I picked them up, so I am assuming there is no lasting damage. :)

Then later in the day, after a nice LONG nap, the 4 of us headed to the grocery store. I had Natalie in a sling, Rebecca in her pumpkin seat in the front carrier of the cart, and John in the "car" in front. I was perusing the cereal aisle and I walked around to the front and saw John had grabbed a box of Trix. I took it from him and went to put it back and realized he had torn it open! Agh! I'm the only one in the house that eats cereal, and I have never in my life liked Trix! So we are now the proud owners of an opened box of cereal that I'm sure will never get eaten.

Other than that it's been a great day! :)

Here are 2 new pictures of my little trouble maker.

Looking all sweet and big brotherly with Natalie...it's all an act I tell you! An act! :)

Catch Up

Sorry I haven't posted in a few weeks, but not a whole lot has been going on. The girls are getting big. They just turned 4 months old, but they don;t go to the doctor for another week or so, so I don;t know how much they weigh yet...although it seems like a lot carrying them around! :) John is using the potty more and more, but he still refuses to poop in it. He actually kind of freaked out like I was crazy when I suggested it. He has discovered boobies on mommy, and hippos (nipples) on himself, and he hasn't quite learned about where it's okay to discuss them and where it is a little inappropriate...such as the YMCA pool. Oh well, I guess every kid notices these differences at some point. His Parents as Teachers educator came last week for his yearly evaluation, and he scored above his age level in each activity, so that was pretty reassuring. We discussed his recent bout of hitting and pushing with her, and unfortunately her answers of "he's a boy, he's 2 1/2, and he just had 2 babies take over his role in the family" didn't give us much to go on. Hopefully he will calm down a little bit soon. The girls are babbling a lot! At church on Sunday we had to take them out of the service because they were so noisy. Not crying or fussing, just talking away. Rebecca tends to coo more and Natalie makes a strange gurgling sound all the time. They are really starting to notice and interact with each other more. When they wake up, they don;t automatically cry for someone to come get them, they'll just stare at each other and make noises. It's cute. Yesterday we got John's preschool information in the mail. I can't believe he's starting school next month!

Here are some pictures to catch you up. :)
